We are seeking an experienced Animal Control Officer for Southern Downs Regional Council.
This role offers the chance to work within a supportive council environment delivering animal management and compliance services across the community.
You will be responsible for responding to animal-related complaints, undertaking patrols, investigating incidents, and enforcing relevant legislation while providing strong customer service outcomes.

You will be responsible for responding to animal-related complaints, undertaking patrols, investigating incidents, and enforcing relevant legislation while providing strong customer service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to animal-related customer requests and complaints
- Conduct patrols and investigate nuisance animal matters
- Manage wandering, impounded, and seized animals safely and humanely
- Enforce relevant legislation and issue notices where required
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
- Educate the community on responsible pet ownership and compliance obligations
- Previous experience in animal management, local laws, ranger services, or compliance
- Strong animal handling skills
- Ability to manage difficult situations professionally
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement practices
- Current driver’s licence essential
- Short-term contract opportunity
