We are seeking an experienced Animal Control Officer for Southern Downs Regional Council.

This role offers the chance to work within a supportive council environment delivering animal management and compliance services across the community.

You will be responsible for responding to animal-related complaints, undertaking patrols, investigating incidents, and enforcing relevant legislation while providing strong customer service outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to animal-related customer requests and complaints
• Conduct patrols and investigate nuisance animal matters
• Manage wandering, impounded, and seized animals safely and humanely
• Enforce relevant legislation and issue notices where required
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
• Educate the community on responsible pet ownership and compliance obligations

About You:

• Previous experience in animal management, local laws, ranger services, or compliance
• Strong animal handling skills
• Ability to manage difficult situations professionally
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement practices
• Current driver’s licence essential
