Osborne Richardson is currently recruiting for a Ranger and Senior Ranger for Central Highlands Regional Council.

- Ranger - contract until January 2027
- Senior Ranger - contract until June 2026
What you’ll be doing
- Responding to animal management requests including wandering animals, aggressive dogs and livestock incidents
- Conducting patrols, inspections and investigations under local laws and relevant legislation
- Issuing notices, infringements, permits and compliance documentation
- Operating and maintaining animal management facilities to ensure animal welfare standards are met
- Supporting responsible pet ownership through community education initiatives
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes using council systems
- Liaising with internal teams, emergency services and external stakeholders as required
- Representing council in compliance matters, including court proceedings where necessary
- Experience in local laws, compliance, animal management or a similar regulatory field
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage difficult situations professionally
- Sound judgement and confidence applying legislation and procedures
- Comfortable working outdoors and handling animals
- Strong administrative and record-keeping capability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Queensland C Class Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain Blue Card
- ACDC licence and Commercial Operators Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Local government experience
- Animal handling or pound/veterinary experience
- Certificate IV in Regulatory Compliance, Animal Control or similar
- First Aid Certificate
