Osborne Richardson love Environmental, Technical and Emergency Management roles, especially in Melbourne. On this occasion, we are assisting our colleagues in Banyule City Council with an Emergency Management Specialist vacancy.
In this great part-time (3 days per week - days flexible) opportunity, you will join the award-winning Municipal Laws, Public Assets and Emergency Management team on an initial contract until the end of February 2026 however, extensions are highly likely in this position. A generous hourly pay rate of $62.15 plus Super indicates the importance of the role in the team.
In your new role, you will have 360 degree involvement in progressing emergency management processes, preparedness and response within Council. In doing so, your duties will cover:

In your new role, you will have 360 degree involvement in progressing emergency management processes, preparedness and response within Council. In doing so, your duties will cover:
- Updating and maintaining the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP), providing support for sub-plans and associated documents, as directed by the Municipal Emergency Management Team Leader.
- Assisting in the delivery of functional responsibilities including the administration of the Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) and Municipal Fire Management Planning Committee (MFMPC).
- Administrator for CrisisWorks and Altitude software.
- Leading the preparation of Council’s Emergency Management reporting requirements, including the Vulnerable Persons Register and Vulnerable Facilities List in accordance with legislation.
- Providing support to the Municipal Fire Prevention Officer in maintaining the Municipal Fire Management Plan, reporting to the Regional Strategic Fire
- With the support and guidance of the Emergency Management Team Leader, undertaking an emergency response role during an incident
- Maintaining operational readiness of equipment and other resources required for the activation of Council Emergency Operations Centres (CEOC) and Emergency Relief Centres (ERC).
- Assisting in the maintenance and development of NWMR Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and ERC facility plans.
- Supporting the development and delivery of Emergency Support Team training and exercising activities, both locally and regionally with partner Councils.
- Supporting and contributing to the development and delivery of community-based projects and initiatives, as required.
- Formal qualifications in a related discipline, such as Environmental Health or Disaster/Risk Management are desirable but not essential. .
- Experience in working with Emergency Planning and Management policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of municipal emergency management
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
