Description:
Osborne Richardson is delighted to be working with a local regional council to bring them two Animal Survey Officers. These positions will commence on 23rd February 2026 and will run for 14 weeks. 

The roles will be based across different areas of the Isaac Region and the council will provide fatugue accomodation during the contracts. 

The purpose of these positions is to improve the rates of dog registration, by conducting approved inspection programs. 

General duties will include:

  • Conducting approved inspection programs and monitoring as required to ensure compliance with state legislation, local laws, subordinate local laws, declarations and notices relating to domestic animal keeping, particularly domestic animal registration, licensing and approvals.
  • Conduct investigations into alleged breaches of relevant State Legislation and Local Laws.
  • Making applications for and executing Warrants and Orders to Enter issued by a Magistrate’s Court in relation to non-compliance for domestic animal keeping issues.
  • Issuing correspondence, directions, compliance notices and Penalty Infringement notices (supported by evidence) for breaches of relevant state legislation, local laws and subordinate local laws and ensuring effective follow through to final outcome.
  • Promoting quality customer service through education and awareness of relevant state legislation, local laws and subordinate local laws.
  • Processing applications for permits and licences and requests in accordance with adopted policies and procedures.
  • Actively influencing animal owners to achieve desired outcomes relating to responsible pet ownership.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Ability to safely capture and impound animals, handle animals and be able to work in environments that animals frequent.
  • Experience working with and handling a variety of animals.
  • Ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence.
  • Experience in navigating and interpreting State legislation and local laws is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
