Are you passionate about animal welfare and committed to providing high-quality care for animals in need? Osborne Richardson is excited to be working with our local council client in the Western suburbs to bring them an enthusiastic and reliable Animal Attendant. This will be a contract position for initially 2 - 3 months.

About the Role

As an Animal Attendant, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day care, wellbeing, and safe management of animals housed at the pound. You’ll work closely with the public, Animal Management Officers, rescue groups, and veterinary providers to ensure animals receive compassionate care and responsible management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily care, feeding, enrichment, and cleaning for animals in the facility.
• Monitor animal health and behaviour, reporting concerns promptly.
• Assist with animal handling, assessments, and safe containment.
• Support rehoming processes, including interacting with potential adopters.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant facility environment.
• Complete accurate records, including intake, health notes, and release documentation.
• Assist with customer service, answering enquiries, and supporting pound operations.
• Assist with animal collections where necessary.

About You

• Passionate about animal welfare and confident handling a variety of animals.
• Knowledge of safe animal handling, behaviour, and basic health care.
• Physically fit—able to lift, walk, and handle animals safely.
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, calm approach.
• Ability to follow procedures, work independently, and contribute to a small team.
• Experience in an animal care environment (pound, shelter, vet clinic, boarding facility) is highly desirable.
• A current full driver’s licence.
